POSITIONS

All candidates should possess current certification by the American Board for Certification (ABC) in Prosthetics and Orthotics or be board-eligible.

Major duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing comprehensive assessments of patients to obtain an understanding of the patients’ prosthetic/orthotic needs and goals in order to design the most appropriate prosthetic/orthotic devices.
  • Creating a comprehensive prosthetic/orthotic treatment plan to meet the needs and goals of the patient in collaboration with the ordering physician(s).
  • Performing all of the necessary procedures to create, fit, manufacture, test, and deliver the appropriate prosthetic/orthotic.
  • Providing continuing patient care and periodic evaluation to assure/maintain/document optimal fit and function of the prosthesis/orthosis
  • Prosthetically/orthotically training patients in all areas/activities of daily living to ensure success.
  • Repairing and/or modifying prosthetics and or orthotics based upon patient needs.
  • Preparing extremely comprehensive clinical notes and documentation in a prompt and organized manner.
  • Compliance with all policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Participating in personal and professional development through continuing education, training and research.

Responsibilities and Duties, but are not limited to:

  • Verify all required documentation is obtained prior to delivery of services
  • Communicate with patients and their families when in the office, by telephone, and via email regarding the status of their billing paperwork, claims, and insurance plan coverage options
  • Insurance Claims – send out first time submissions, resubmissions, and follow-ups
  • Create/proof/obtain DWO’s (Detailed Written Orders) from ordering physicians for services, as well as other appropriate documentation necessary to obtain insurance approvals and maintain compliance
  • Obtain insurance authorization for services

Requirements:

  • At least two years of proven, real-world working experience as a medical biller – NOT including intern/externships
  • Must be a team player who is able to multitask, work independently, and meet scheduled deadlines
  • Knowledge of HCPCS and ICD10 codes
  • Experience with commercial insurance, government insurance, workers’ compensation, no-fault, and private insurance companies
  • Computer literacy, especially proficiency in MS Word and Excel

Position Type: Full-time

Major duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Fabricate, fit, maintain, and repair artificial limbs, carbon, silicone, plastic appliances, and other prosthetic devices, according to Prosthetist/Orthotist specifications.
  • Maintain and repair prosthetic/orthotic devices under the guidance of the prosthetic/orthotic staff and/or the lab manager.
  • Follow instructions from the Prosthetist/Orthotist to determine type of prosthesis to be fabricated and materials and tools required.
  • Lay out and mark dimensions of parts using appropriate measuring instruments and templates.
  • Must be skilled at operating machinery including power tools, mills, lathes, and welders while maintaining a high level of hand-eye coordination.
  • Saw, carve, cut, and grind wood, plastic, metal, or fabric to fabricate parts, using appropriate tools.
  • Drill and tap holes for rivets and screws using drill press.
  • Glue, weld, bolt, sew, and rivet parts together to form prosthesis/orthosis.
  • Test prostheses for freedom of movement, alignment of parts, and mechanical stability, using all appropriate tools.
  • Fabricate cosmetic covers.
  • Apply silicone skin covers to prosthesis.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Pay careful attention to detailed directions.

  • Basic mathematical skills needed.

The job of a prosthetic technician is very labor-intensive and requires the employee to stand for a full eight-hour work day in the prosthetic lab. The prosthetic technician is required to carry plaster molds, which weigh between twenty and fifty pounds, and fifty-pound bags of plaster, from one area of the prosthetic lab to another area. Candidates should anticipate the physical demands of the position and be able to meet these requirements.

Receptionist Duties include, but are not limited to::

  • Performing basic office functions including filing and handling moderate to heavy phone volume.
  • Scheduling and maintaining patient appointments.
  • Greeting patients when they arrive and reviewing their files for completeness and accuracy.
  • Managing inventory of assets and supplies, monitoring critical levels of stocks, sourcing for suppliers, and submitting invoices.
  • Maintaining supply contracts and negotiating end-of-year renewals.
  • Sending and receiving mail and packages via USPS, UPS, and FedEx.
  • Sending business correspondence and faxes.
  • Preparing meeting minutes, meeting notes, and internal support materials.

Skills Required/Expectations:

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Computer literacy
  • Strong phone and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience in the reception field, especially in a healthcare setting
