A Step Ahead Prosthetics’ Operations Director, Amy Palmiero-Winters, received a big surprise at the USA Track and Field Hall of Fame in Manhattan from none other than NY Yankees manager Joe Girardi and players Gary Sánchez, Jacoby Ellsbury, Adam Warren, Ronald Torreyes, Chad Green and Jonathan Holder. The team honored Amy and the One Step Ahead boys and girls for all their achievements. The Yankees organization was very impressed by Amy’s non-profit One Step Ahead Foundation that encourages children to gain more self-esteem and confidence through sports.

After lunch, the kids joined up with the team at Yankee Stadium for warm ups before the game. One boy, Kristofer, had a great time showing pitcher Adam Warren the new story book he wrote. The kids had a blast during their meet and greet; they took pictures and received personalized autographs from the entire team. At the beginning of the game, all the One Step Ahead kids cheered on Amy and her daughter Madeline as they went out to the pitcher’s mound to throw the first pitch of the game. After lunch, dinner, and endless amounts of snacks, all the children agreed they had the afternoon of a lifetime and couldn’t wait to tell all their friends at school!
